--Lots of skiers took advantage of the nice weather this weekend with trips into the Washington backcountry.   A party headed up to the East Summit of Snoqualmie, intending to ski the Crooked Couloir .  After making the East Summit they were socked in by a white out and unable to safely find their objective.  However, that didn't stop Matt Hart from shooting some great ski footage while they were out.  Check out his blog for a more in depth trip report and enjoy the video he shot below.

--Another party headed up to the Tatoosh Range near Mt. Rainier and skied in the Castle Basin.  They were pleasantly surprised with great weather and conditions for most of the day.  Check out their full trip report here.

--The Tieton River climbing areas have been closed for the season due to nesting raptors. To read more about this closure, click here.

--Early Saturday morning I headed over the mountains with two of my old climbing buddies in search of warm weather and sunshine.  We found it at Frenchman Coulee near Vantage...and so did many other climbing parties.  We enjoyed mild temperatures and even a bit of sunshine on Sunday.  The rain stayed away for the most part, only arriving as we were packing the car to head back home.

Mt. Redoubt eruption on March 23, 2009

--Mt. Redoubt has erupted!  It began late Sunday night and Alaska residents woke up Monday morning to an abundance of ash in the air.  The majority of the heavy ash was deposited fairly close to the mountain but the lighter ash was carried through the air and across the Alaska landscape, coating everything in a light layer of ash.  For current updates visit the Alaska Volcano Observatory here

*Please note that this eruption won't have an affect on our current Alaska programs.  Air travel has resumed to Anchorage and our expeditions will run as scheduled.

--Forecast for Denali

--The Alaska season will start up in April. We are now accepting applications for our 2009 Denali expeditions and our 2009 Alaska Range Mountaineering Programs.
