--Forest Service Road Report for Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

--The toilets on both the north and south sides of Mount Baker were removed this weekend. The cost of flying the toilets the past 5 seasons has been paid for by the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000. The project, (Mt. Baker Sanitation Project) has been submitted annually as a proposal to the Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) by Mark Langston from NOLS and the Mt. Baker Ranger District, and has received full funding each year. This, however, is the final year for these funds and the project, as the Act has not been renewed, nor have funds been allocated for its continuation. In order to continue the project for next season, alternative grant funds will need to be acquired.

--Great weather over the weekend led to a number of successful ascents. A party climbed the North Ridge of Forbidden Peak, another party sent Vesper Peak, a party attempted a first ascent on a wall in Snoqualmie Pass, and another party got up Monte Cristo peak.

--Those crazy year-round skiers are still getting after it in the worst possible conditions...early September. A skier reports great conditions on Baker. Another party found decent conditions on the Muir Snowfield. And lastly a party found some good turns on Table Mountain.

--It's still sunny and warm during the days in the Sierra, but at night it's starting to get cold. This is important for the gully ice routes. And it sounds like they're coming into prime condition!

--Here is a slightly out-of-date report on a trip to Cloudripper peak, here is a report on a climb at Lover's Leap called Third Stone from the Sun, and here is a report from the Yosemite Facelift.

ALPS:

--Chamonix and Mont Blanc Regional Forecasts may be found here.

ALASKA RANGE:

--Forecast for Denali

--The Alaska season is over until April of 2009.

RED ROCK CANYON:

-- Temperatures remain high in Red Rock, but people are starting to gear up for the Fall climbing season. The local climbing ranger has indicated that a number of people are requesting late exit permits. In other words, people are starting to get after it on the shady aspects of the canyon!
