--Forecast for the East Slope of the Cascades.

--Forest Service Road Report for Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

--A series of large rocks fell off of the Nevermind Wall at Exit 38 on Sunday. To read more, click here.

--The approach couloir for the West Ridge of Forbidden Peak is nearly free of snow. It is possible to climb up and around to the left on mid-fifth class rock.

--Marginal weather apparently provides for good climbing! A party climbed Colchuck Balanced Rock and left a very detailed trip report here this weekend. Another party climbed the North Ridge of Mount Stuart. And a party even climbed the chossy West Face of Guye Peak.

--And yes there are still people skiing. Check out this trip to Baker. And this trip to Rainier. And these guys tried to waterski across a puddle in a snowfield somewhere in the Cascades.

SIERRA:

--For up to date avalanche and weather reports in the Eastern Sierra, click here.

--The 53 square-mile wildfire outside the boundaries of Yosemite National Park continues to create severe haze and terrible air quality. Firefighters are close to containing the fire. To read more, click here.

--There is no longer snow on the Mountaineers Route on Mount Whitney. As such there is no longer a need for crampons or an ice axe.

--The couloirs in the eastern Sierra are no longer freezing at night and have become somewhat dangerous. It is best to avoid these classic climbs until it starts freezing at night again in September.

--A small fire in Mammoth is currently in the process of being snuffed out. As with the fire outside Yosemite, it appears that this was caused by humans.

ALPS:

--Chamonix and Mont Blanc Regional Forecasts may be found here.

ALASKA RANGE:

--Forecast for Denali

--The Alaska season is over until April of 2009.

RED ROCK CANYON:

-- Temperatures remain high in Red Rock but people are starting to gear up for the Fall climbing season. Average highs throughout the summer range between 102 and 108. The campground is closed and will re-open at the beginning of September. Locals tend to climb at higher altitudes where the temperatures are cooler. Many visit Mount Charleston or Flagstaff throughout the summer season.
