-- Forest Service sections of the Mt. Loop Highway for culvert replacement:Everett, Wash. August 6, 2010—The Forest Service is closing sections of the Mt. Loop Scenic Byway (Forest Service Highway 2000) during weekdays for culvert replacement upgrades beginning at milepost 34.7 at 7 a.m. Monday, August 9. Each closure will stop traffic coming from Granite Falls blocking access to Elliot Creek Road to Goat Lake trailhead, Sloan Creek road to Glacier Peak Wilderness, Bedal Campground or Forest Service road 49.

-- Debris Flows Damage Lakeshore Trail in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area
A thunderstorm brought heavy rainfall Thursday evening, August 5 that created flash flooding and debris flows in three creeks along Lake Chelan in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area near Stehekin, WA. Substantial damage occurred to the Lakeshore Trail, washing out the bridge at Four Mile Creek and leaving the trail impassable to hikers and stock between Hazard Creek, less than a half mile from Stehekin, and Four Mile Creek, just under three miles from Stehekin.

--Webcam for Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.--The late exit and overnight permit number for Red Rock Canyon is 702-515-5050. If there is any chance that you will be inside the park after closing, be sure to call this number so that you don't get a ticket.--The entrance to the scenic drive had a parking area for those who wanted to carpool up until approximately April of 2009. That lot has now become employee parking and people who want to carpool are required to park at the lot outside the Scenic Drive exit.
--The scenic drive currently opens its gates at 6 in the morning.
