--The scenic drive currently opens its gates at 6 in the morning.

--The high pressure
in the Cascades finally faded over the weekend and many parts of the state started to see snowfall. A few people got out and plucked a few great lines before the high pressure went away though. This party completed a beautiful first ascent near Leavenworth. This party climbed Big Four. This party climbed some great drips near Big Four. And this party made a first ascent near Darrington. The snow is falling hard in the mountains now, so it's likely that we'll see a lot more skiers out this next week than climbers.

--Speaking of skiers, most of the links are out of date, because conditions have changed radically. The quick news is lots of snow and lots of avy danger...

SIERRA:

--Webcams for Bishop, June Lake, Mammoth Mountain, Mono Lake, Tioga Pass, and Yosemite National Park.

--Though there have been some storms, the conditions in the Sierra can still be referred to as "early season." Skier should be aware of rocks and stumps sticking up through the snow. The ice is still a bit on the thin side, but there is definitely enough in Lee Vining and June Lake to make for a great trip!
